University of Auckland’s international ranking
The University of Auckland has once again achieved status as one of the world’s best universities, according to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings released in November 2007. Placed 50th in the world, the University has maintained it’s ranking in the top one percent of the world’s universities.
Specific subject rankings are:
35th in the world’s top Social Sciences universities
32nd in the world’s top Arts and Humanities universities
41st in the world’s top Life Sciences and Biomedicine universities

The 2006 Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF) assessment placed The University of Auckland first in the three funding components:
The University has only 18% of PBRF-eligible staff and yet has 33% of the country’s A-rated researchers and gained 30% of PBRF funding.

The Univeristy of Auckland is the only university in New Zealand, and one of only four in Australasia, with membership of Universitas 21, an exclusive group of major research-intensive universities.
The University of Auckland is also the only New Zealand member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, an association of some of the world’s premier universities.

The University of Auckland Library ranks alongside the top five university libraries in Australia and is the largest university library in New Zealand with 2.2 million items.
