Join the Club
Joining clubs is one of the best ways to settle in and feel connected. It’s also a great way to meet both local and international students who share your interests.
Ethnic Groups around Wellington and Victoria University
If you are interested in joining a local ethnc group either at the University, or around Wellington city, take a look at our international communities pages:

Clubs at Victoria
Victoria University has over 90 different cultural, sport, religious, political, academic, language, creative and social support groups. For a complete list see the clubs homepage.
Two clubs may be of particular interest to all international students:
Multicultural Friends & Families Club
A social and cultural club and support network to help students from different cultural backgrounds, ethnicity, genders and ages adjust to the New Zealand lifestyle. It also plays an advocacy role for international students and ensures important issues are heard. The club works with VUWSA and Victoria International to provide basic information on living sensibly and comfortably in Wellington on a student budget, and a series of family friendly, inexpensive events and short trips around New Zealand for both international and local students. Email Shalini, or phone 021 215 9360.
Kiwi Connections
A volunteer friendship programme that encourages the mutual exchange of cultures, provides support to international students as they adjust to their new environment and establishes connections in the community. Students and ‘hosts’ are matched at the beginning of the year according to their backgrounds and interests, and interact in many ways, such as sharing meals, attending concerts or sports events, and celebrating holidays together. Hosts are Victoria alumni, employees, students and people from the Wellington community. Registration forms for joining are available from Victoria International.
